This alloy delivers exceptional luminosity with the smooth handling performance expected from top-grade professional leaf.

  • Pack size: 20 books per pack
  • Leaves per book: 25 leaves
  • Total leaves: 500 leaves per pack
  • Leaf size: 3 3/8" × 3 3/8" (standard square)
  • Approx. coverage: 39 sq ft per pack

We offer a selection of gram weights to accommodate different project demands and gilding techniques. Gram weight refers to the weight of 1,000 standard 3 3/8" square leaves and should be understood as a measure of leaf density, not thickness. Each leaf is beaten to an ultra-thin standard of approximately 0.5 microns.

Loose Gold — Loose 22kt French Pale Gold leaf is interleaved between sheets of thin, lightly rouged paper, allowing individual leaves to be lifted cleanly without disturbing the remainder of the book. Loose leaf is traditionally handled with a gilder’s tip (a flat natural-hair brush) and is favored for detailed ornament, water gilding, carved surfaces, and conservation-quality restoration where subtle color control is essential.

Patent Gold (Transfer Leaf) — 22kt French Pale Patent Gold leaf, also known as transfer leaf, is mounted to a special tissue paper using a pressure process. Each leaf-and-tissue unit is interleaved with thin rouged paper, allowing for consistent, single-sheet removal. Transfer leaf offers enhanced control, making it ideal for larger areas, straight runs, smooth substrates, and projects where precise placement and efficient handling are required.
