Traditional Water Gilding involves a minimum of ten steps from size preparation of the ground to burnishing genuine gold or silver leaf. This special focus study offers a concentrated look into the laying of 23k gold leaf onto a prepared wood Panel.
Laying gold leaf on a flat surface has specific requirements for a beautiful end result in gilding, from the amount of water applied to the surface and addressing any potential air bubbles or pinholes to tamping and burnishing.
The class project Panel will be gessoed, sanded, and clayed, ready for the gilding during this Summer Tutorial. The intent is to focus simply on the laying of leaf and the intricacies involved during this intensive, particular step in water gilding. ~
Limited to 10 Students. Both class sessions are Live and Recorded which remain viewable for six months. All Levels Welcome!
