Gilded Picture Frame Series: Oil Gilded Antiqued Brass Metal Leaf Finish

A new addition to the Gilded Picture Frame Series! Join us as we go through each step of creating the Antiqued Brass Metal Leaf Finish.

Always a popular Finish in picture framing due in part to its lesser production cost compared to traditional water gilding, brass leaf - also known as gold metal leaf, composition gold, and Dutch metal leaf - may be shellacked and left bright or toned to create added depth and complexity.

Students will learn to prepare and apply gesso and ready-made Compo corner ornaments, painting the undercoat, oil gilding in brass metal leaf, and toning with raw umber washes and oil-based Japan paint for age.

This is an 8 session class for a total of 12 hours. Each session is 90 minutes.
